ALC/LEAD Partner in a New Approach to Lean Training
‘Learning at a New Level’
Automated Learning Corporation (ALC) and Lean Advisors
Inc.(LEAD) today announced a new
partnership to produce computer-based training (CBT) for Lean Training.
Unlike other CBT products
that target management, ALC and LEAD are producing courses designed specifically
for employees on
the assembly line, shop floor or office. These people are most often underserved
in Lean training
because of high numbers and production or paperwork priorities.
The first joint product is 5S Workplace Organization
due for release in October 2002 (see attached
FAQ sheet).
With more than 20 years of proven success in instructional
design, ALC is a North American leader in
creating LAN and Web based training courses. The 2001 edition of the Branham
300 lists ALC as one
of Canada’s top 25 up-and-coming technology firms. Among the clients
for ALC’s CBT courses are
Millenium Electronic Inc., CISCO, Intermec, Snap-on Diagnostics and Suntron.
ALC’s
courses are selectively versioned in English, French, Spanish or German.
LEAD is the premier training organization for Lean Implementation
in North America. Specializing in
on-site training, their instructors are experienced Lean practitioners
from a wide range of industries and
services. LEAD’s hands-on, results-oriented approach has produced
long-term training relationships
with such industry leaders as: Gorton’s Seafood, Whirlpool Corporation,
Northrop Grumman, and
Canada Post Corporation. LEAD has developed, refined and delivered courses
on virtually every
aspect of Lean practice.
Dr. Bob Abell of ALC notes “We’re providing
a flexible training schedule with minimal hardship on
production. Training happens on an individual basis, on-demand. The whole
line doesn’t shut down so
everyone can take the program at the same time. Yet the learning is consistent
– everyone is exposed to
the same curriculum in exactly the same way.”
As LEAD’s Larry Coté points out, “It’s
critical to get the Lean message to your frontline workers –
they’re the ones who will be implementing the changes. Without solid
understanding of Lean and a
common language across the whole organization, the training you’ve
given management will be wasted.
These new tools will make that happen and ensure the company’s long-term
success.”

Automated Learning Expands International Dealer Base
in India and UK
Is e-learning the next big wave? Some companies around
the world think so, and plan to be part of the
action. In a major expansion to service the international technology community
with their growing
demand for e-learning, ALC has added three new dealers this month.
Servicing India and surrounding regions, we welcome Dr.
Sengupta & Associates, a group well known
to the surface mount community in that country. In the UK, Dynamix is
expanding their educational
offerings with our LearnTech Enterprise Version products. This provides
additional resources for their
core focus on soldering technology, as well as support training for related
assembly tasks.
ESD Busters, located in Chicago and servicing the mid
west, specializes in ESD program management,
training, and support. The LearnTech ESD e-learning, available in English
and Spanish, complements
their core business by assisting their client workforce in understanding
the issues quickly and effectively.
Understanding leads to management-and control-of ESD problems that continue
to subtract millions of
dollars from the bottom line of many hi-tech manufacturers.

with multiple offices in Australia, and
Waterfall Technologies, supporting markets in Ontario and SE Asia. These
5 new dealers complement
