1.New courses for improved Safety and Lean Practices

  • Lockout/Tagout
    • Do you produce a product that requires use of electrical, thermal, chemical, mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic, radiant or other forms of energy?
    • If so, safety training in Lockout/Tagout is important and possibly mandated.
    • This LearnTech® course teaches control of hazardous energy through the unique seven-step lockout process.  It also differentiates lockout from tagout.  Order now for shipping in July.
  • Quick Changeover
    • Also commonly referred to as Setup Reduction or SMED, QCO holds one of the secrets to cost reduction through Lean.  Discover how others have improved efficiency and profits by reducing their changeover time.  Learn the steps you can take for dramatic results.  Target release: August.
  • Are there other titles you would like to see in LAN, Web, or DVD format?
  • Email your request to eabell@automatedlearning.com
  • Ask about the advantages our partners realize when we develop new titles for them.

2. Can we send you LearnTech® updates?

  • Regular customers using the LearnTech® LAN version are entitled to no-cost updates.  This includes:
    • New regular LearnTech® titles as they are released.
    • Updates to earlier versions.
    • The latest major update was in March, 2009

3. Counterfeit Component Issues:

  • Counterfeit Components have become a significant threat to the reliability and profitability of the electronics industry.
  • Counterfeit Component Photographic Poster Guide is a 28-page reference source to reduce the impact of counterfeit components on your organization.
  • More information at: http://www.automatedlearning.com/purchasing/Photo_Poster_Guides.pdf

4. ESD Hands-On Workshop July, 2009

  • July provides the perfect opportunity for leaders to participate in an interactive, hands-on workshop centered on the latest ESD issues, including Class 0, charged device and charged board phenomena, and building your S20.20 program.
  • Location is in New England.  Call 613 599-9975 or email eabell@automatedlearning for more information.
  • Can’t make the workshop, want to brush up on the basic theory in advance, or want to provide solid training on these topics to your workforce?  Check out the e-courses:

5. Hands on workshops or e-learning - or both?  How to gain best results.

  • Time and again, studies produce the same results: Blended learning comes out ahead of either hands-on only on or e-learning only.
    • For best results, your leaders already understand the fundamental theories when they attend workshops such as the one mentioned above.  E-learning courses such as those in the LearnTech® series quickly provide a comprehensive introduction to the theory.  Leaders consistently comment on how much they learn, even when they are presumably already well versed in the topic at hand.
    • With a solid understanding going in, leaders participate at a higher level when attending workshops, and therefore take more understanding home.
    • Back at the plant, leaders can then provide the blended solution to the workforce:
      • e-learning to ensure workers gain a solid understanding of theory.
      • short local exercises or individual questioning to localize learning.
    • Not only does this provide a better-educated, more motivated workforce, it actually saves money.  Check the cost of time off the line and of rework due to insufficient understanding of fundamentals.
