Introduction to Fiber Optics & Optical Network Description The intent of the course is to provide the learner with a sound foundation in the fundamentals of optical networks, including system architecture, performance, components and technology. It starts with the growing demand for bandwidth, network architecture and how the network has evolved over time. It then moves onto properties of optical fibre, first, second and third generation networks and technology. Level: Entry
Description: RF & Wireless made simple topics include the integral relationship of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, basic wave theory, and power calculations for RF and wireless technology. Impedance, resistance, reactance, and mismatch are defined. The names and functions of RF system components are discussed and a description of how they interact to generate and process signals is provided. The course explains the basic principles of signal processing and multiple access techniques in wireless telecommunications. Propagation of electromagnetic waves is introduced and a comparison of the specifications of commercial wireless systems is provided. The course concludes with a discussion on the future of wireless technology and its applications. Level: Intermediate
Description: This course consists of eight modules full of interactive multimedia information with well-defined objectives to thoroughly present each subject. There are a total of 163 objectives taught with test questions for each. The average student takes approximately 8 hours to complete the course including testing. Course information is based in part on IPC-R-700C, Metcal recommendations and standard industry practices. Level: Intermediate
