The intent of the course is to provide the learner with
a sound foundation in the fundamentals of optical networks, including
system architecture, performance, components and technology. It starts
with the growing demand for bandwidth, network architecture and how the
network has evolved over time. It then moves onto properties of optical
fibre, first, second and third generation networks and technology.
