Ahearne, Collins & Associates 
Jim Collins of Ahearne, Collins & Associates has over 20 years experience across the medical, technology, consumer goods, and aerospace sectors. Jim spent 8 years working in the UK, Ireland, and France in a variety of technical and managerial roles; including new product development, manufacturing engineering, customer support, quality assurance, and production. Prior to joining Honeywell as General Manager in 1996, Jim worked with Bausch & Lomb (RayBan), Unisys, and Bayer.
Jim holds a BSc (Manufacturing Technology) from the University of Limerick and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh. He is a senior member of the American Society for Quality and a charter member of the Institute of Management. Jim is also a certified Lean Expert and Six Sigma Green Belt.
Jim has been actively involved in various improvement initiatives including JIT, TQM, Six Sigma, and Lean over the last 15 years, and has participated in over a dozen Kaizen Events in Ireland, England, USA, and Japan. He was the founding Chairperson of the (Irish) South East Lean Forum and also served on a Lean Community of Practice (COP) within the Irish Centre for Business Excellence – a national network of organizations committed to achieving sustained success and competitiveness by pursuing excellence. He also provided subject matter expertise on a multi-company collaboration to develop a suite of E-Learning tools for Lean training.
Jim has provided consultancy and training to a number of clients including EMC, the Irish Industrial Development Authority (IDA), and Honeywell UK (Overhaul & Repair facility, Heathrow). He has also presented to conferences and workshops, and has lectured in University of Limerick and the Waterford Institute of Technology on Continuous Improvement, Lean & Six Sigma, Operations Management, and Quality Assurance.
Jim is also a Governor of the University of Limerick and a board member. He is a former Chairperson of the University of Limerick Alumni Association, and is the founding Chairperson of the South East chapter of the Irish MBA Association.
Pat O Donnell B.Eng.
Pat is a graduate of Industrial Engineering and Information Systems at National University of Ireland. He possesses a wide range of industrial experience in capital investment analysis, methods & standards, inventory control, planning, layout development, and factory start-ups. Pat has a proven track record in achieving project-based cost reduction, improvement goals, and attainment of aggressive work deadlines. His working clients include VHI, Dell, Guidant, Barclay Chemicals, Euro Text Translations, and Mentor Graphics.
