Objectives:
LeanSCM has recently completed a new
addition to their eLearning programmes in Supply Chain
Management that specifically focuses on the area of Strategic
Sourcing. This on line programme is a very comprehensive
module that supports the 7-Steps in preparing for and
implementing a Strategic Sourcing Programme. It also helps
guide the supply chain professional through all aspects
of preparation and provides valuable examples of how to
do it right.

Module Outline:
Module
1:
This sets the ground rules for aligning
the Sourcing Strategic Objectives with those of it's Organisation
and looks at the benefits of sourcing globally v locally.
It completes a comprehensive review of the alternative
type of supplier and how to choose those that are best
suited to the needs of the organization and its Supply
Chain.
Module
2:
This assists the user to evaluate the different techniques
employed in both Data Collection and Data Analysis and
highlights the advantages &/or disadvantages of the
various tools used to prepare the foundation of a Sourcing
Strategy.
Module
3:
This explains the various means
of getting information about potential suppliers. It
provides a stepped approach to preparing documentation
as part of a RFI (Request for Information) and highlights
the importance of getting particular cost information
at the earlier stages of the process to strengthen your
position when it comes to the latter part of the negotiation
process.
Module
4:
This reviews the process of a Request
for Proposal (RFP) and identifies the critical elements
of a RFP and assists the user identifies key requirements
and considerations when developing solicitation. This
step highlights the legal aspects of RFP's and the need
for caution in document preparation.
Module
5:
This provides the necessary steps
and tools to plan and evaluate your potential supplier's
technical capabilities and processes. It provides great
detail on the variety of ways in which one may evaluate
price comparisons (price analysis, cost analysis and total
cost analysis) and provides the advantages and appropriateness
of each in different circumstances.

6:
This reviews the necessary work to
be completed in preparation for Negotiation with a Supplier.
It helps you develop a better understanding of your position
and that of your supplier in advance of negotiation and
identifies the elements of successful negotiation preparation.

7:
This reviews the process steps in support of implementing
a Sourcing Strategy namely:
• Develop & Confirm User Commitment
• Finalize Supplier Selection and Negotiation
• Implementation Planning for Change
• Execution and Follow-Up
• Feedback
